Puppy Play Time

Notification List

If you are interested in bringing home a Chapman Schnauzer puppy in the future but are not yet ready to place a deposit, we highly recommend joining our notification list. Families on our list are the first to be notified of any available puppies after deposit holders have made their selections. If you would like to join our notification list, please fill out the contact form on our Contact US page.

Deposit List Process

The Deposit - A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to join our deposit list. Deposits are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and reserve your place in line for current or future litters. All deposits go toward the final purchase price of your puppy and are not an additional fee. Our deposit holders receive first pick of all available litters/puppies before they are advertised on our website or shared with our notification list. Once on our deposit list, we provide email updates when breedings take place, pregnancies are confirmed, and puppies are born.

Choosing Your Puppy - Puppy selections are typically made when puppies are 3–5 weeks old and are chosen in order of deposits received. At this age, puppies have not yet been vaccinated, so selections are made using detailed videos and photos rather than in-person visits. We contact each deposit holder by text and email when it is their turn to choose from the available puppies.

Families may either: Select a puppy OR pass and remain on the list for a future litter. If you pass, your place in line moves up as others make their selections.  Transferring your deposit to an available puppy shows your commitment and intention to purchase that puppy. Once a puppy has been marked as reserved, the deposit becomes non-transferable and is forfeited if a family later decides not to move forward.

Available Puppies - We occasionally have puppies available that were not selected by deposit holders. These puppies are first offered to families on our notification list before being posted publicly. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve an available puppy and goes toward the final purchase price.

Payment Information - We accept: Check, Zelle, Venmo. The $500 deposit holds the puppy until pick up. Families are welcome to pay for their puppy in full at any time before pickup. If final payment is made at pickup, we accept cash only — no exceptions.

Pickup & Holding Policy - Puppies can go home at 8 weeks of age. We hold puppies free of charge until 10 weeks of age to allow time to arrange pick up. If a puppy is being held beyond the scheduled pickup date, full payment is required by 10 weeks of age. For puppies held past 10 weeks of age, a boarding fee of $75 per week will apply. We will board a puppy up to 14 weeks of age.

Visiting & Safety

The health and protection of our puppies is something we take extremely seriously. Because young puppies are highly vulnerable before receiving their first vaccinations, we do not allow in-home visits or interactions with puppies prior to their first booster shots at 8 weeks of age.

In the past, we experienced heartbreaking losses after illnesses were unintentionally brought in by visitors. Those experiences changed the way we operate and reinforced the importance of protecting our litters during these critical early weeks. While we understand this process may not work for every family, we stand firm in these policies as they are in place solely for the safety and well-being of our puppies.

To help families feel confident in their selections, we provide detailed photos, videos, updates, and ongoing communication throughout the process. All puppy pickups are done in front of our home once the puppies are of proper age to go home.

Puppy Pricing

All of our puppies are priced at $3,000. Our pricing reflects over 15 years of dedication to preserving and producing exceptional Miniature Schnauzers through carefully planned breedings, selective bloodlines, and a strong commitment to the breed standard.

We have intentionally built our program using and importing outstanding lines from the United States, Europe, and South America, holding our breeding dogs to a very high standard in structure, coat quality, health, temperament, and overall breed type. Our puppies consistently reflect the bold, confident, and well-balanced temperament the Miniature Schnauzer is known for, while also representing the correct conformation and quality found throughout their champion pedigrees.

In addition to the quality of our lines, our pricing also reflects the extensive care, socialization, and foundation we provide from birth until each puppy leaves for their new home. We do not charge different prices based on color or gender, as we believe every puppy we produce is a strong representation of the quality and values behind our breeding program.

Shipping - Flight Nanny

We do not ship our puppy's cargo. We have a Flight Nanny who will fly to your nearest airport and deliver your puppy. Flight Nanny prices vary but are typically between $400-$1200. During holidays, the price is typically $1000-$2000. If you live outside of Arizona, you can also drive or fly to pick them up in person. We can personally deliver pups to our airports, Phoenix Sky Harbor or Mesa Gateway, and meet you at the baggage claim doors. This helps make quick return flights easier.

What We Look For In Our Puppies

Confirmation & Build: At Chapman Schnauzers, we strive to produce Miniature Schnauzers that closely reflect the breed standard set by the American Miniature Schnauzer Club. We focus on producing dogs with correct structure, balanced proportions, proper coat quality, and the bold, confident temperament the breed is known for. Miniature Schnauzers should be compact, sturdy, and well-balanced — never fragile or toy-like. Our breeding program prioritizes strong structure, correct movement, dense coats, and sound temperaments while preserving the overall integrity of the breed.

Size:  The breed standard for the Miniature Schnauzer is 12–14 inches at the shoulder and between 11–21 pounds. Terms such as “Toy” and “Teacup” are not recognized within the breed standard and are used by designer breeders whose programs focus primarily on puppies, light weights and improper colors. Not the breed standard in conformation and temperament.

All our adult dogs range between 11–19 pounds. While we cannot guarantee mature size, we provide our best estimates based on lineage, parental size, and each puppy’s growth pattern. We occasionally get pups that mature beyond or under this weight. They are not priced differently or bred intentionally they are the product of genetics. but all of our dogs come from champion lines and hold the integrity of the breed standard in conformation and build. We do not guarantee size but give our best estimates based on weekly weight gain and previous puppy's and parent's sizes.

Color: Our puppies are produced only in the three colors recognized by the American Miniature Schnauzer Club:
Salt & Pepper, Black & Silver, Black. We do not breed for non-standard colors brought in through mix breeding, as our focus is on preserving correct breed type and quality.

Coat: We place strong emphasis on producing proper Schnauzer coats with good density, furnishings, and texture. Our puppies' coats are soft in texture, but if properly stripped, will produce the correct wiry coat seen in the show ring. Our breeding dogs are selected for full, healthy coats that reflect the overall quality and breed type we strive to preserve in our program.

Puppies will have tails docked and dewclaws removed, and ears will be left natural. Our puppies also come with a folder full of info on spaying/neutering, training, grooming, feeding, etc. They will come with info and a 6-day supply of NuVet vitamins.  A copy of their parent's AKC pedigrees will be included. Also included in their binder is the standard for the miniature schnauzer's grooming chart.

*The puppy pack includes chews, toys, a comb, a blanket with the littermate's scent, and a week's supply of their current puppy food SmallBatch Freeze Dried chicken. Go to our Preparing For Your Puppy page to find the links to this food and other products we use. We litter-box train our puppies (like a cat), so potty training is an easier transition, and they come to you with established clean habits. Our puppy Pack includes a bag with paper pellets to use to help our puppies transition into their new routine with potty training and help prevent accidents.

Nutrition & Long-Term Health

Proper nutrition plays a major role in the long-term health, quality of life, and longevity of a Miniature Schnauzer. This breed can be prone to issues such as obesity, pancreatitis, diabetes, skin allergies, and digestive sensitivities, making diet especially important. We are very mindful of fat content in our dogs’ diets and generally aim to keep adult foods between 7–14% fat to help maintain a healthy weight and support long-term health. Keeping a Miniature Schnauzer lean and fit can truly make a significant difference in both their quality and length of life. Over the years, we have personally found that many Schnauzers fed traditional kibble diets struggle with allergies, skin issues, excessive tartar buildup, or digestive sensitivities. In contrast, we have seen excellent results feeding a high-quality raw-based diet.

Our dogs and puppies are fed SmallBatch Freeze-Dried, Chicken. This premium freeze-dried raw dog food is made with 78% Chicken, 20% vegetables, and 2% natural minerals. This food is made in an FDA-inspected facility with human-grade organic ingredients, no added hormones or antibiotics, and has no recall history.

Many health issues are caused by what you feed your dogs. Dry dog kibble is at the very bottom of the list for what's healthy and balanced for a dog's body to digest. The dog food industry has no regulations.  Much of what is put in most kibbles is not meant to be processed by a dog's digestive system. Dogs are very resilient, and their bodies tolerate a lot.  This doesn't mean there aren't hereditary issues that could come from genetics. But many issues like allergies, digestive sensitivities, cancers, and tartar build-up on teeth can come from reactions to improper food and the fillers and carbs in them. Please click on this LINK to read an article that talks more about kibble and the effect it has on your dog. Many vets ARE NOT educated on dog food brands and sell brands because corporations advertise to them.

I advise owners to feed fresh foods to their dogs as treats. DON'T FEED THEM MORE PROCESSED TREATS from the store. Fresh, caught, water-packed sardines are a great treat. Feed your pups one a day OR intermittently as a treat. Or give them fish oil pills once a day. I get the big double pack of fish oil pills from Costco, and my adults all get one every day and love them. The benefits to their health are huge! Fish oil contains Omega-3 fatty acids that are important to pet neuromuscular development, skin health, and coat quality. I also like blueberries, apple slices, carrots, sweet potatoes and green beans as treats. Think how much store-bought "treats" cost, and the majority are harmful and do not add to your pet's overall health. For less cost, the treats I’ve mentioned are PACKED with nutrients that improve the health, build the immunity of your pet, and can help make up for a lot of nutrients that are lost when kibble is processed and baked. Click on this LINK for a list of what natural foods you can and can't feed your dog.

*We understand that adopting a puppy is a serious commitment and ask that you strongly consider the responsibility and expense before proceeding. Puppies are a lifetime commitment that requires attention, patience, and love. The time you put into your future companion will be reflected in the type of dog they grow to be. So be ready to take on this commitment because they will be devoted to you. That being said, we try to set you up for success with the socializing we do with our puppies, so they come to you balanced and ready to learn. The stipulations on the notification list, deposits, and payments are to create an organized, structured, and fair system for all parties involved and to protect against those who would be deceitful.
